SB 140 on the Senate's local and uncontested calendar
SB 140 (Sen. Florence Shapiro, R-Plano) limits the number of days a campus administrator or school district may remove a student from an academic class such as fine arts for TAKS remediation and still award credit or final grade.
This bill has been voted out of the Senate Education Committee and has been placed on the Senate’s local and uncontested calendar. As the bill moves to the House, a substitute bill may be filed to strengthen its effectiveness, keeping in mind that every piece of legislation is a compromise.
